Niki Akhurst 

Niki’s career includes over 14 years in the payments industry working for both international corporates and start-up organisations in senior management positions. Taking a career break in 2017 to work on a game reserve in South Africa, having now returned to the UK she is an Ambassador for the EPA, delivering the Women in Paytech initiative, an Associate with Manifesto, the Growth Architects – a boutique business growth consultancy and an Ambassador for the Armed Forces Para Snowsports Team.

Previous roles include Business Development Director for The Pennies Foundation – the digital collection box that works with the payments industry to enable merchants and retailers to collect micro-donations from card transactions for charities at the point of purchase.

Other roles include Global Sales Director (Prepaid) for Western Union, Visa Europe and Visa Inc’s Corporate and Consumer Prepaid programmes and Global Sponsorship consumer projects for the London 2012 Olympic Games and European Commercial Director for 3V Transaction Services. In her role at 3V, Niki was instrumental in developing and launching Europe’s first prepaid Visa product and Visa open loop co-branded gift cards with eBay, PayPal and bebo. Niki has also been involved in the development of mobile payment platforms and services since 2003.

Prior to joining the Payments industry, Niki held senior positions working for the UK Government on the Millennium Date Change Y2K Programme, Gtech Europe which operates 75% of the world’s Lotteries, delivery and implementation of the Bid for the UK National Lottery for Camelot (twice!). And Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising on global accounts such as British Airways, Mars Confectionery and Diageo drinks brands.
